Gateway Geomatics
Jeff McKenna is the 2016 recipient of the prestigious Sol Katz Award. This recognition is awarded annually by the OSGeo Foundation to individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the OSGeo and FOSS4G communities.
Jeff McKenna is part of OSGeo since its inception and co-created the FOSS4G movement back in 2004. He was elected as Charter Member in 2006 and later on elected to the Board of Directors of OSGeo in 2009. He was named as the President of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation in 2012, and reelected as such in 2014.
Jeff McKenna has always been active on software projects too, especially within the MapServer and ZOO-Project communities, as a member of their Project Steering Committees, documentation lead and power user. He notably created and maintains MS4W, the popular and long-time MapServer installer for Windows users.
Jeff McKenna also operates his own open geospatial consulting and training company, Gateway Geomatics, along the beautiful coast in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
